THE PSALTER, Sixteenth Kathisma
Psalm One-Hundred and Seventeen LXX (Ps. 118, Masoretic)

St. Pachomius Library Translation of the Septuagint

Psalm 117

  1. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
  2. Let the house of Israel now say that he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever.
  3. Let the house of Aaron now say that he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever.
  4. Let all them now that fear the LORD say that he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever.
  5. In distress I called upon the LORD, and he heard me, [and brought me] into an open plain.
  6. The LORD is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
  7. The LORD is my helper: and as for me, I shall look upon mine enemies.
  8. It is better to have trusted in the LORD than to have trusted in man.
  9. It is better to hope in the LORD than to hope in princes.
  10. All the nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I drove them off.
  11. Compassing, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I drove them off.
  12. As bees an honeycomb, so they compassed me about; and they were ablaze as fire among thistles; but in the name of the LORD I drove them off.
  13. Being pushed to fall, I was overthrown, but the LORD took hold of me.
  14. The LORD is my strength and my song, and is become to me salvation.
  15. A voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD did a mighty work.
  16. The right hand of the LORD exalted me: the right hand of the LORD did a mighty work.
  17. I shall not die, but live, and recount the works of the LORD.
  18. Correcting, the LORD corrected me: but he gave me not over unto death.
  19. Open ye to me the gates of righteousness: going into them, I will give thanks unto the LORD:
  20. This is the gate of the LORD, into which the righteous ones shall enter.
  21. I will give thanks to thee: for thou didst hear me, and art become to me salvation.
  22. A stone which the builders rejected, the same is become head of the corner.
  23. This is the LORD's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes.
  24. This is the day which the LORD made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
  25. Save now, [I beseech thee,] O LORD: O LORD, [I beseech thee,] send now prosperity.
  26. Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.
  27. God is the LORD, and upon us he shone forth: put together a festival among things thickly decked.
  28. Thou art my God, and I will give thanks to thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee. I will give thanks to thee; for thou heardest me, and art become to me salvation.
  29. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
