Soba
A former city on the Blue Nile near Khartoum,
which was built partly with material from its ruins in the XIX
Century. Soba was the capital of
a small Nubian state,
Alodia, which remained (Miaphysite) Christian until the XVI Century.
The fall of Soba to the Islamic Funj people in 1504 marks the
end of Christian Nubia.
Under construction --- far from complete! Read with caution.
