Petrus II, Bishop of Pachoras
XI Century
According to the Polish historians of Nubia,
Peter II returned the
Nubian Church to miaphysitism
after half a century in the Eastern Orthodox
communion. There is a two-year gap in
the Pachoras
bishop list before his consecration,
which took place in the same year (1058) as a visit
to Nubia by the Coptic Pope Christodulus.
One assumes that he took the name "Peter" in
honour of
Peter I, the last
bishop before the dyophysites took over.
Under construction --- far from complete! Read with caution.
