Chalcedonian Assyrian Church
In the 1890s, a Persian diocese of the Nestorian
Church of the East (located near the Russian border)
renounced Nestorianism and became
part of the Russian Orthodox Church (although still retaining
as many as possible of the Church of the East's traditions).
The "Nestorian Mission", as it is often called, was
almost destroyed in the chaos of World War I and the
Russian Revolution. Many of the survivors ended up in
Iraq.
