APOLOGISTS
Originally referred to Hellenistic philosophers who, having become
Christians, attempted to explain and defend Christianity
in language that their colleagues understood, and to refute
pagan misconceptions of
Christianity as a bizarre and dangerous anti-social cult.
Some later apologists have attempted to present Christianity
to other non-Christian civilizations, especially the Islamic,
Buddhist, and Western Secularist cultures.
