The Way of a Pilgrim and
The Pilgrim Continues his Way
(Russian OTKROVENNYE RASSKAZY STRANNIKA
DUKHOVNOMU SVOEMU OTCU)
Anonymous XIX Century
Russian spiritual classics -- actually
parts of one book; it is possible that the entire manuscript has never
been published -- describing the wanderings
of a peasant hesychast.
Widely distributed in both Orthodox and
non-Orthodox countries, it has been largely responsible for Western
awareness of the Jesus Prayer,
and also inspired J. D. Salinger's
novel Franny and Zooey.
However, because of copyright issues, there is not much available
online about it. See also Pilgrimage.

Prayer without Ceasing:
Excerpt from French's translation, with illustrations
by Rembrandt. [Roman Catholic site; includes Roman
Catholic notes at the end. But they are rather interesting:
endorsements of the Jesus Prayer by Pope John Paul II
and Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton.]
