Igor Ivanovich Sikorsky

XX Century
A pioneer of aircraft technology and in particular of the helicopter, Sikorsky was also a major force in the growth of the American Orthodox Metropolia, making enormous contributions of his energy and resources. Perhaps something of a theological liberal, he struggled with mixed success to harmonise Tradition and modernity, but always clung fast to the ultimate truth of Christ revealed in the Orthodox Church.
