Sergiopolis

Arabic RESAFA; Hebrew RESAPH

Mentioned in passing in the Old Testament, Resapha was the site of the martyrdom of St. Sergius. It became a major pilgrimage centre, especially after the construction of a shrine by Alexander of Hierapolis.
