  • Patrick at Glastonbury? A tradition of the English church, but possibly invented by the monks of Glastonbury, who were notorious for such things.

  • The Tripartite Life of Patrick, with Other Documents Relating to that Saint edited and translated by Whitley Stokes [London: Her Majesty's Stationery Office, 1887] This classic work is the starting point for the study of all traditions about St. Patrick not contained in his own (undisputed) writings. The Tripartite Life proper was written (or more likely evolved into its present form) between the VI and XI Centuries.

  • The Lorica (Breastplate), also called The Deer's Cry: a famous Gaelic prayer attributed to St. Patrick; the titles refer to an episode in which Patrick escaped miraculously from his enemies because they mistook him for a deer.
