St. Nonna
IV Century
The wife of the elder
Gregory of Nazianzus and the mother of the
younger,
whom the Eastern Orthodox call Gregory the Theologian,
and of St. Gorgonia,
St. Nonna was a
pious woman whose example converted her husband from a Judaic-pagan cult
to Christianity. She was good to the poor, and in the oration given at her
funeral, her son praises her virtue.
