Nikolaj Aleksandrovich Motovilov
XIX Century
A married layman who was the disciple of
St. Seraphim of Sarov. The modern fame of St. Seraphim was
greatly enhanced by the rediscovery and publication of Motovilov's
writings, which he had bequeathed to
Serge Nilus.

One of the most famous modern patristic texts. Motovilov narrates a
conversation with the saint, at the end of which both were transfigured
with the Uncreated Light.
