John XVII, Pope of Rome
X/XI Centuries
John Sicco was born in Rome and became pope in 1003 through the influence
of the Crescentii family. He was married before he received holy orders
and had three sons, who also served the church. During his six-month
papacy, he authorized missionary work among the Slavs.
