The Gadarene, Gergesene, and/or Gerasene Demoniacs
It is far from clear that
Mt. 8:28-34,
Mk. 5:1-20, and
Lk. 8:26-39
all refer to the same miracle, nor is it clear just where
these events took place. The cities of
Gadara and
Gerasa are both quite far from Lake Tiberias, but the village
of Khersa is near the shore, and seems a reasonable candidate.
The individual Greek manuscripts give a number of variant spellings.
