St. Eudocia
II Century
A Samaritan woman born in Heliopolis, St. Eudocia was a courtesan before
her conversion to Christianity. She, the legends say, then distributed
her wealth to the poor and entered a convent, where she may have become
the abbess. Some contend she was betrayed by former lovers; a man named
Vincent tried her and ordered her beheading, possibly around 152.
