Sts. Boris and Gleb the Passion-Bearers,
Princes of Kiev
XI Century
Sons of St. Vladimir the Great.
Although they could have fought, they allowed themselves to be murdered
by Prince Svyatopolk during the dynastic troubles following Vladimir's
death rather than take up arms against their own brother.
Their servant St. George the
Hungarian was also killed; later his brothers
Sts. Ephrem and Moses would
help establish their veneration as passion-bearers.
