St. Barsanuphius


VI Century
An ascetic of the desert, Barsanouphius was born in Egypt and became an anchorite near a monastery in Gaza. Barsanouphius had a reputation for insight and was considered a wonderworker. With another ascetic, John, he wrote a series of questions and answers about the spiritual life.
