African Orthodox Church (AOC)

A jurisdiction (now several), originally founded by members of Marcus Garvey's Black nationalist political movement, with parishes in the US, Africa, and the Caribbean; the name is also used by some unrelated African churches. Although the AOC as a whole has few current ties to historic Orthodoxy, a number of "African Orthodox" parishes over the years have joined canonical jurisdictions.
