St. Isaiah of Rostov
XI Century
The evangelist of the Ukranian peasantry, St. Isaiah (d. 1090) was the
abbot of the Dimitriou monastery at Kiev before his election to the see of Rostov in 1077. He
was honored as a preacher and is revered as a miracle-worker.
